Here's what's going on this month at the

Art Museum:

2      Friday                              10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

         FREE FIRST FRIDAY

The first Friday of every month is free admission at the Art Museum, courtesy of Schlotzsky’s. Come see what’s new at the Art Museum!

2      Friday                                   7 – 8:30 p.m.

        FILM DEPICTS ARTIST’S LIFE

The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo

Award-winning actress Rita Moreno narrates this film, which provides an intimate biography of a woman who gracefully balanced a private life of illness and pain against a public persona that was flamboyant, irreverent and world-renowned.  The film was shot on location in Mexico where Kahlo lived and painted; the musical score was created entirely with traditional Mexican and period music.

Free to the public as part of ArtWalk.

10    Saturday                                   1 – 4 p.m.

        GALLERY WALKS

A tour of current Museum exhibits is led by student docents, every hour on the hour, on the second Saturday of each month.  Free with paid Museum admission or membership.

17    Saturday                                     1 – 3 p.m.

        SUPER SARTURDAY

Back-to-School Blowout!

What better way to end summer vacation than with a Super sARTurday at the Art Museum?!?  Join Kids Club for a fun-filled workshop as young artists ages 5-12 create bubble prints, fish prints and sun catchers in an end-of-summer extravaganza. RSVPs required to 825-3504.

$5-members/$10-nonmembers

22    Thursday                          10 – 11:30 a.m.

MOMS & TOTS (and sometimes Pops!)

        What’s Outside the Window?

Young artists ages 2-5 with an adult helper will create a window frame, using their imaginations to look “outside” the window and draw what they see using oil pastels.  A wash of tempera paint turns each drawing into a beautiful work of art. The Hello, Goodbye Window by Norton Juster and Chris Raschka will provide additional inspiration.  RSVPs required to 825-3504.

$5-members/$10-nonmembers
