Creativity and Adventure Await this Summer at the Fine Art of Summer Camp

Art Museum of South Texas to host the 34th Fine Art of Summer Camp

Corpus Christi, TX — As summer approaches, the Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated Fine Art of Summer Camp. Designed to ignite creativity, foster artistic exploration, and provide a memorable summer experience, this camp is a must for parents seeking to enrich their child’s summer break.Beginning June 3 to August 2, 2024, kids aged K5-12 are invited to choose between 9 sessions each with a specific art focus. Led by experienced art educators and professionals, the Fine Art of Summer Camp offers a dynamic blend of hands-on art-making activities, gallery explorations, and performing arts components.

“Our Fine Art of Summer Camp is a unique opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the world of art while having fun and making new friends,” said Linda Rodriguez, curator of exhibitions at AMST. “We believe in nurturing each child’s creative potential and providing them with a supportive environment to express themselves freely.”

Throughout the nine-week camp, young artists will engage in a diverse range of art projects such as painting, collage, printmaking, mixed media, and more. They will draw inspiration from the Museum’s traveling exhibitions and permanent collection to learn about different artistic styles, techniques, and cultural traditions. In addition, pop culture themes, such as the world of Minecraft, will give children a familiar platform to explore visual and performing art activities.

2024 Fine Art of Summer Camp will also witness the very first mini-camp, Young at Art Camp, specifically geared for campers ages 2-5 with an adult helper. The three-day camp will run July 1-3 from 10am-12pm and include hands-on art, movement activities, story and snack time daily!

Pre- and after-care are available at an additional fee of $35 and $45 respectively. Scholarships and sibling discounts available.
