EXHIBITION SCHEDULE UPDATE

Dear Friends of AMST,

I was in a meeting several years ago and one of the attendees used the word “pulchritude.” WOW! I’m embarrassed to say that I had never heard the word spoken before. No one I knew had ever uttered that word in a single sentence in my presence. I was so awed by the usage that I even had a bumper sticker made for our incoming Board Chair that read “Bringing Pulchritude Back in 2016.”

BEAUTY! AMST is where you come to witness pulchritude.  And yet, our doors are closed and the galleries are empty. But beauty still abounds and I hope you are taking this social distancing time to seek it out, acknowledge it’s presence, and perhaps even record it for longevity. That’s the creative process. It doesn’t always focus on glamor, but the act of noting and making is certainly one of loveliness.

The AMST Staff is 100% focused on “Keeping Pulchritude in 2020.” Due to our closure and the as-of-yet unknown date for welcoming you back, we have made adjustments to our exhibition schedule that I wanted to bring to your attention. Our scheduled Summer exhibitions have now been moved to the Fall:

Our planned Fall exhibition, Across the Atlantic: American Impressionism Through the French Lens, will remain as planned with the Members Preview date of Thursday, September 24 and viewing dates of September 25, 2020-January 3, 2021.

In addition, we are planning an exciting “Creative Distancing” Summer exhibition in response to our shared and yet separate Coronavirus experiences. More information to come on that front, but we think you will be intrigued as we invite our community and beyond to contribute to a digital offering.

I hope you will put all of these dates on your calendar and make plans to spend time in our galleries when we are able to gather again. And I hope you will spend a little bit of each day exploring the pulchritude that is ever-present.
