COLORFUL STORIES

Chispa Bluntzer, The Call, 1996, oil on wood, gift of the artist, on view as part of Telling Art from the Permanent Collection

“Being very visually attracted to color, this piece immediately caught my eye, but the thing that stuck out to me the most are the different stories each panel portrays; the far left gives you a sense of care and protection, the far right somewhat resembles fear and death, and the middle panel gives you a sense of fear as you look into the eyes of the woman holding the tree branch. Being able to experience different feelings about a specific piece is exhilarating to the viewer and unique in itself. ”
