Creative Distancing: An Exhibition of Community Creativity
Now Closed for Submissions
In response to COVID-19 restrictions, we often refer to a “new normal” where we are apart and yet so connected. Each person has endured new challenges and found new ways to cope. We invite the community to be present in the Museum via an image of what they created during this COVID-19 isolation.
We seek to show your insights and creative capital by projecting a salon-style presentation of images. In the inclusive tradition of the French salon, a wide variety of images are shown side by side as well as on top and below each other. The surprising pairings that appear represent the true diversity of experience and expression at this moment. Throughout the presentation, videos from the Museum’s Creative Distancing series play to exemplify the ways in which artists continued to create in solitude.
The ongoing submission process extends through July 31, 2020. At the conclusion of the exhibition, selected jurors will award prizes and the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite online. (1st prize $500, 2nd prize $250, 3rd prize $100, and public’s choice $250).
