Art Museum of South Texas Unveils Newest Temporary Exhibition: “King Ranch: A Legacy in Art, Paintings by Noe Perez”

King Ranch exhibition welcomed with acclaim

Corpus Christi, TX – The Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) opened its newest temporary exhibition, “King Ranch: A Legacy in Art, Paintings by Noe Perez” April 26. The exhibition will remain on view through the summer until August 25.

The exhibition opened with the Art Museum’s traditional Art Unboxed (formerly known as “Lunch Amongst the Masters”). Members, visitors, and Perez’s family were in attendance to hear what the artist had to say about his work, his process, and how he came to be in his current position.

“[My father] had grown up on a ranch, was a cowboy. Since I was a very small kid, I would follow him around. I was out in those area ranches since I was probably about six or something like that,” Perez explains to an enraptured audience. “Being out there with my dad, here’s a painting I did of him.”

“King Ranch: A Legacy in Art, Paintings by Noe Perez” delves into the rich heritage and profound impact of one of Texas’ most iconic landmarks, King Ranch, through the masterful lens of artist Noe Perez. Known for his evocative portrayals of the South Texas landscape and its inhabitants, Perez’s paintings capture the spirit and essence of the King Ranch like never before. Through his vivid brushstrokes and unique eye for light and movement within his work, Perez transports viewers to a world steeped in history, tradition, and natural beauty.

“I have followed Noe’s art career for years and feel such exhilaration by him for the opportunity to make art full time,” said curator of exhibitions Deborah Fullerton. “We are excited for what will follow these wonderful works of art by him. His recent painting “Nopaleras became a part of the [AMST] permanent collection, and not only represents a contemporary landscape, but is by an artist who resides in the region who has known these subjects all his life, representing their endurance with depth and great beauty seen in the, often times, rugged South Texas terrain.”

Visitors are encouraged to view Perez’s book “King Ranch: A Legacy in Art Noe Perez” as well as enjoy the free Family Guides available in the Museum Shop.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the artistry of Noe Perez and explore the timeless allure of King Ranch. “King Ranch: A Legacy in Art, Paintings by Noe Perez” on view at the Art Museum of South Texas from April 26 to August 25, 2024.
