Dear Friends of AMST,

We are so excited to welcome you back to enjoy the Art Museum of South Texas! As we prepare to open to the public starting June 2, 2020, we want to highlight the safety precautions we are taking since the health emergency closure, as the safety of you and our staff is our top priority. Our entire team has been working diligently to create a safe and engaging environment; here are some of the safety measures we have implemented:

Admissions check-in:

Thanks to the Ed Rachal Foundation summer admission to AMST will be FREE for all Visitors. In addition, to expanding the accessibility of the Museum, this will allow Visitors a touch-less check-in at the gift shop and lobby.

Museum entry:

Visitors will enter the Museum as usual through the doors by the pink wall, where an AMST Staff member will be present to open the door and help maintain a safe flow of traffic at our entrance.

Face covering encouraged for visitors:

All AMST Staff will be wearing face coverings and Visitors are encouraged to wear a face covering for entry and the duration of their visit. AMST safety measures reflect the state-wide recommendations for re-opening.

Social distancing will be enforced:

Look for signs and floor decals to help you gauge the appropriate six feet between you and other visitors. Of course, families and those who came together may continue to visit the museum together.

Hand-washing and sanitizing:

You will see some changes to AMST, including new hand sanitizing stations throughout the Museum, and the removal of paper materials and touch based interactive items. Additionally AMST Staff will be sanitizing public areas continuously throughout the day.

New Exhibitions:

You will see multiple new exhibitions during your visit to AMST, including never before seen works from our Permanent Collection, an installation by local artist Jennifer Arnold, and the Creative Distancing exhibition which highlights the creativity of our local and national community.

You are sure to see something that catches your eye around every corner.
