Celebrating 24 Years of Inspiring Young Artists in the Coastal Bend

A line of people forms at the Art Museum of South Texas doors for FREE admission provided by the Port of Corpus Christi to celebrate 24 years of Visionarios Youth Art Competition and Exhibition.

Corpus Christi, TX —The Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) is proud to announce the 24th annual “Visionarios: The Art of the Wish” Youth Art Competition and Exhibition, presented by the Port of Corpus Christi. The Port of Corpus Christi will underwrite the price of admission for the duration of Visionarios allowing visitors to enjoy this community-favorite exhibition, free of charge.

“We are thrilled to celebrate twenty-four years of ‘Visionarios’ by focusing on the hopes and dreams of our young artists,” said Linda Rodriguez, curator of education at AMST. “This competition not only showcases their incredible talent but also provides insight into the future they envision for themselves, their communities, and even the World.”

The competition features categories in wet, dry, mixed, and digital/photographic media. Young artists from grades 1 through 12 across the Coastal Bend region were asked to explore and express their unique interpretations of a “wish” through the various artistic mediums.

Cash prizes will be awarded to first through third-place winners across various grade and media categories. Additionally, three scholarships to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and one scholarship to Del Mar College will be awarded to deserving high school students.

Entries are evaluated based on creativity, originality, artistic merits, and the clarity of the conveyed message. The esteemed panel of judges includes local artists, educators, and community leaders.

A special Family Day and awards presentation will take place Sunday, March 30, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The public is invited to attend this free event to enjoy interactive art activities, live music, view the exhibition, and meet the young artists behind the art.
